Badges are pieces of material made of cloth, leather, metal, paper etc. Badges are given in praise of service rendered or heroic actions. Badges are also used as on identification material. They are widely used in all types of activities viz. military, sports meet, conferences etc. Some badges bear the name of the unit or branch which the person represents. Normally badges are put on the left side of the body under shoulder on the pockets whether left or right. Badges also denote recognition of a person with the unit or department to which he belongs. Badges presentation ceremonies are also conducted in some units especially in military field. Badges wearing are mandatory in some units and non wearing of badges may attract punishment. Badges area part of uniform supplied to army, police and likewise services. The badges have to be returned while surrendering back the uniform on account of transfer to other units, retirement, dismissal etc. Name badges have now become mandatory in public service. The persons who are in public service have to necessarily wear their name badges. Badges supplier numbers have increased many folds during the last few years because of wider usage of badges and name badges.
